Scripture often uses agricultural imagery to describe spiritual truths. The idea of being “planted” is one such image, symbolizing stability, growth, and fruitfulness.
Jeremiah 17: 7-8 says, “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out it’s roots by the stream.”
Just as a gardener selects the best location for a tree to grow, God, in his sovereignty, plants us where we can grow spiritually. This happens in the context of our family, community, church, and even in our life circumstances.
