senior ministries

Springfield First has a very active Senior Ministry. We have regular gatherings for fellowship, Bible studies, Sunday morning classes, quilting, games, and trips! Our seniors are very active in volunteerism in many areas of our church: serving as ushers, greeters, and office helpers; assisting with mailings; serving at the Welcome Center; helping in KidLife; joining prayer teams; and in active ministry to our homebound friends in care facilities. We also participate in ministering at the Asbury Children's Supper Hour, Kumler Neighborhood Ministries, the Midwest Mission Distribution Center, and hospice care.

Springfield First & Life Line Screening,

a leading provider of community-based preventive health

screenings, is pleased to offer a preventive health event at

Springfield First on Monday, February 11. Five

screenings will be offered that scan for potential health

problems related to blocked arteries, which is a leading cause

of stroke; abdominal aortic aneurysms, which can lead to a ruptured

aorta; hardening of the arteries in the legs, which is a strong

predictor of heart disease; atrial fibrillation or irregular heart

beat, which is closely tied to stroke risk; and a bone density

screening, for men and women, used to assess the risk of

osteoporosis. All five screenings take 60-90 minutes to complete

and are non-invasive.
