unleash compassion

If you're looking for safe ways to serve our community during this time of

sheltering-in-place, we have the following suggestions for how you might serve:

1. Kumler Neighborhood Outreach is anticipating an influx of need in the coming months. We want to help them prepare by collecting non-perishable items. Any items are welcome, but they are in particular need of: canned corn, low sodium canned veggies, fruit canned in juice, and oatmeal. We will be collecting these items in the vestibule at church, just inside the main east entrance (open 8:00am-3:00pm, Monday through Thursday).

Kumler is also in need of volunteers to serve between 9:00am-12:00pm weekdays. You can serve during the whole time slot, or even just for an hour. With many of their volunteers being in the "at risk" category, they are in need of help. All volunteers will be asked to wear a mask, keep their social distance, and will have no contact with anyone other than other volunteers. If you are able to help, please reach out to Pastor Nicole.

2. Midwest Mission Distribution Center is looking for materials to make face masks.  We will be collecting fabric, 1/4" elastic, and thread.  We are collecting this at the church or you can drop it off at MMDC.  For more info, check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4X9Noo82H4M&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR2GbjVDHrcdRIBnVRexGz08LPgI5f-8deeBZvDqQtjmIXUA-llwpUXQKKk

If you have old t-shirts and dress shirts, you can help make materials needed for masks.  For that information, check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGhY_QkiW6M&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR1r97sBVnHbcj7JeHs58LP-0V2XhHwspvU7ImFOVHhnGWs8tqrJumWxYZk

There is a collection bin inside the main doors. Materials donated will be delivered to MMDC where they will be put in quarantine until safe to use.

3. Illinois Presbyterian Home is a local non-profit care facility here in Springfield. As residents are isolated and confined to their rooms, we would love to shower their residents and staff with cards, letters, and pictures from our Springfield First family.  Simply mail a letter to one of the following:
